This book is an attempt to approximate Arabic with English literature to reveal the common features that affect the pens of the writers. The genius can be born in different literatures if the circumstances nurture the same spots in their souls. This book will shed more illumination on the masters of pessimism in English and Arabic literature respectively: Thomas Hardy and Abu alaa al Maari who will be the arena of this study and be faithful representatives of blackness in their literatures so as to trace the principal grounds behind their pessimism, its effect on their writing and the mutual philosophical views that gathered the two and the fruits of this effect. The book will not regard this blackness completely as a negative aspect in their writing due to its effect on production of various pessimistic masterpieces.
